Handshake Perks Information
When you use Handshake Perks, we collect and use information needed to display, administer, verify, and record a perk redemption. This may include your member identifier, selected city, the business and perk selected, the time the redemption ticket was issued and used, the ticket's status, the method used to confirm redemption, and a snapshot of the applicable perk terms.
If you agree, a redemption ticket may display your first name and profile photo to the participating business or a person operating its scanning device during the ticket's limited validity period. If you do not agree, the ticket shows your first name only. The business may use that information only to verify and provide the perk. Tickets are designed to be single-use and expire after the stated period.
We may collect a short-lived salted, one-way hash of an IP address for security and abuse prevention. We do not use that hash to identify you.
If you join Handshake after visiting a participating business's public page, we may record the page or business that referred you so we can measure program activity and improve Perks. Businesses generally receive aggregate usage counts rather than your name or email address.
We may retain redemption and reporting information for as long as reasonably necessary for program administration, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, and business records. We may share information with service providers that help us operate Perks, subject to appropriate contractual protections.
